Blue Cross of California High Deductible Health Plans--Power Health Fund 750 |
The Power Health Fund 750 is one of two health fund plans offered by Blue Cross of California. The name Power Health Fund 750 comes from the $750 dollars in first dollar coverage included in the plan. For a family, the aggregate first dollar coverage is up to $1500 dollars for in-network providers. After the first dollar coverage has been expended, the Power Health Fund 750 plan requires that the member meets an annual deductible of $500 for an individual or a $1000 deductible for a family. Blue Cross of California high deductible health fund plans are great because the funds can roll over from year to year.
With the Power Health Fund 750, the out of pocket maximum amount (the most in out of pocket expenses that the plan allows or requires members to have to pay) is significantly higher than with other health care plans that Blue Cross of California offers. The annual out of pocket maximum for an individual member of the Power Health Fund 750 is $5000 and $10,000 for a family, limited to two members.
After the out of pocket maximum is met, the plan covers the rest of the qualified expenses the plan member would have otherwise had to shell out money of their own for. The Power Health fund plans are designed for members who don’t need medical attention as often as other people, so it costs them less but requires significantly higher contributions on the part of the member than other health care plans normally would. For members who utilize the services of non-participating health care providers, the out of pocket maximums for individual members and a family are $10,000 and $20,000 respectively. Obviously, these plans are designed to encourage members to use in network providers if possible.
Just like with the Power Health Fund 500, annual physical exams are not on the list of covered expenses, but HealthyCheck exams are. Depending on the individual plan preferences that the member has indicated, the co pay for HealthyCheck exams is either $25 or $75. HealthyCheck exams are not subject to the annual deductible.
The two Power Health funds are also similar in prescription plan coverage. Whereas the Power Health Fund 500 requires a $350 deductible for name brand prescription drugs, the Power Health Fund 750 requires a $250 deductible for prescription drugs, in addition to the $25 co pay. Generic drugs require a co pay of $15. If at all possible it is advisable to fill your prescriptions with generic versions of a drug if there is one available; otherwise your health plan may require you to pay the co pay for the drug as well as the difference between the costs of the two.
The Power Health Fund 750 will pay 75 percent of the cost of professional services, which include but are not limited to services from an X-Ray technician, lab technician (blood work, etc) and maternity services.
