Benefits Of Using The PowerFund 750 |
Another basic plan through Blue Cross of Ca that is designed for the subscriber who doesn’t require much beyond prescriptions and occasional doctor visits is the PowerFund 750. This plan, as the name implies, has an annual deductible of $750 that is satisfied when two members meet the deductible. The plan does not cover annual physicals nor does it cover maternity care, but it does cover preventive care and Healthy Check. Office visits have a $35 copay, and prescription medications are $10 for generic and $30 for brand name after a $250 brand name deductible. Self-administered injections are covered at 30% of the negotiated rate.
For the subscriber who doesn’t need maternity care and utilizes preventive care, this plan can work quite well at a reasonable cost. It also fits well into the plan for someone who has a medical reimbursement account where the additional charges can be saved on a before-tax basis and paid later. With many employers today eliminating or reducing the amount they pay in health insurance coverage for employees and opting instead for medical reimbursement accounts, the insurance companies such as Blue Cross of California have had to design programs that are compatible with those kinds of efforts. In addition, subscribers do not want to pay for services that they do no plan to use or for which they have no need.
Blue Cross of Ca has many different plans from which subscribers can choose, and the PowerFund 750 is just one of many of those. If you want to venture out of network for your medical needs, you are free to do so, but you must understand that it will cost you a great deal more money to do that. For example, with this plan, maximum benefit the plan pays is $10,000, and one hospital stay can easily amount to twice or even three times that amount in today’s economy. You want to stay within the network whenever possible in order to pay the least amount possible. The idea of a PPO is to allow those who have doctors that they have been seeing who aren’t in the network to continue seeing the same doctor. Finding a doctor with whom you are comfortable can sometimes be a difficult task, so to avoid the trauma of forcing subscribers to change doctors, a PPO allows you to use the same doctor, but if he or she isn’t in the network, you pay a higher price to continue using their services.
In terms of benefits for basic needs, this plan is one of the better plans and has one of the lowest deductibles. Remember, the higher the deductible the lower the cost of the plan, and that is what you are looking at with the PowerFund 750. If you want a basic plan for a lower monthly premium, this plan will do it for you. It has everything you may need with the exception of annual visits and maternity, but if you don’t need those, then this plan will definitely meet your needs.
